COFFEE ON THE WALL
Writer Iyada Abdel-Hay told a story that shocked him. He says that when he was in Venice, he went into a cafe and asked for a cup of coffee and a piece of pie. Then he began to move between the tables, taking sip after sip of coffee, contemplating the calm that filled the place. He hears that the bell hanging at the entrance to the door has rung, announcing the next visitor to the cafe.
The visitor who entered sat down next to the table of the writer Iyad Abdel-Hay, after sitting for a short time, he hurried the waiter and told him, please bring me a cup of coffee, and another cup on the wall.
Writer Iyada Abdel-Khaya says: “I was amazed by his request. He wondered how there was a cup of coffee on the wall. And he found no other way to find out about it than to wait for the continuation of the story.
After a few seconds the waiter came with only one cup of coffee in his hand, he then took out a small piece of paper and wrote (cup of coffee) on it, walked over to the wall and stuck it to it and left a series of question marks on my head. For what??? Why??? A few minutes later, several more customers entered the cafe and repeated the same scene, asking for three cups of coffee and adding three
cups of coffee to the two that were already on the wall.
The waiter brought them not only three cups, but also pasted pieces of paper on the same wall, writing a phrase on each (a cup of coffee).
Only a few minutes passed when a shabby customer entered the cafe, he sat down at a table next to him, and the waiter approached him, and the customer calmly told him: “A cup of coffee from the wall.”
The waiter walked to the wall, removed one piece of paper, and then returned with a cup of coffee and placed it on the table in front of the customer. And here, I realized that this is social solidarity, very polite and respectful, a way that helps those who do not have money for a cup of coffee. This method ensures that those who do not have money for a cup of coffee can ask for it without embarrassment and calmly, so as not to humiliate their pride and dignity.
His dignity will not be lost, and at the same time he will be able to order a cup of coffee without being humiliated. And a person who can pay for an extra cup of coffee does not have to fear the views of poor and needy people.
How many walls in our restaurants and school cafeterias should activate this wonderful idea. The idea of the ancient Islamic essence of mutual assistance and modern European solutions.”
But everything is really true, if every person could pay for a loaf of bread, or a cup of coffee, or a carton of milk for those in need, life would become easier not only for those who find themselves in a difficult life situation, but also for those who provide this insignificant help. help him.
